Bali Steaks, by way of Holland

Ingredients

  • 2 filet mignon steaks, 1 inch thick (about 6oz each)
  • salt, pepper, and garlic powder to your taste
  • 4 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 shallot, finely minced
  • 3 inch portion of ginger, peeled and finely minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chili flake
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground clove
  • zest and juice of 1 small lime
  • 2 teaspoons light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup shredded coconut (lightly sweetened or unsweetened is best)
  • white rice, for serving
