Cherry Almond Buns Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/4 ounce active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup sugar plus 1/4 teaspoon, divided
  • 2 1/2 cup (about 12 1/2 ounces) all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 4 tablespoons (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, diced, at room temperature, plus 2 tablespoons melted
  • 3/4 cup dried cherries
  • 3/4 cup toasted slivered almonds
  • For Topping:
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon slivered toasted almonds
