Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. plus 2 tbsp. granulated sugar
  • 1 1/4 c. egg whites (from about 10 large eggs), room temperature
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 4 large egg yolks, room temperature
  • 1 tsp. finely grated orange zest plus more for garnish
  • 2 tbsp. orange juice
  • 1 1/2 c. confectioners’ sugar, sifted
  • 3 tbsp. orange juice
  • 1 tbsp. butter, melted
