Karen Barker's Basic Pie Crust Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 2/3 cups flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3/4 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 ounces (8 tablespoons) chilled butter, cut into pieces
  • 4 ounces (1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon + 2 teaspoons) chilled vegetable shortening, cut into pieces
  • Approximately 1/3 to 1/2 cup water, as needed
