Three Berry Butter Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 3 large eggs at room temperature
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons finely grated fresh lemon zest
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups cake flour (not self-rising)
  • 6 cups mixed berries (1 3/4 ponds) such as raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries
  • 2 tablespoons confectioners sugar
