Ingredients
- 2 cups All-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon Baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup Granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 3 large Eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups apples, peeled and grated
- 1 cup caramel sauce
- 1 pound fondant
Instructions
-
Step 1:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
-
Step 2:
In another bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla.
-
Step 3:
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the grated apples. Mix until just combined.
-
Step 4:
Divide the batter evenly between two greased 9-inch round cake pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
-
Step 5:
While the cakes are baking, prepare the caramel buttercream by beating together softened butter and caramel sauce until smooth and creamy.
-
Step 6:
Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of caramel buttercream on top, then place the second layer on top and frost the entire cake with the remaining buttercream.
-
Step 7:
Roll out the fondant on a clean surface and carefully cover the cake, smoothing it out to remove any air bubbles.
-
Step 8:
Decorate the cake as desired and serve. Enjoy your Caramel Apple Fondant Cake!
