- 4 large Eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon Baking powder
- 1 cup Milk
- 4 cups Buttercream frosting
- 2 pounds fondant
- various food coloring
- to decorate sugar flowers
Instructions
-
Step 1:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
-
Step 2:
In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.
-
Step 3:
Divide the batter evenly between greased cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
-
Step 4:
Once the cakes are cool, level the tops if necessary. Place one layer on a cake board, spread a layer of buttercream frosting, and repeat with remaining layers. Cover the entire cake with a thin layer of frosting to create a crumb coat.
-
Step 5:
Roll out the fondant and cover the cake, smoothing it out to eliminate any air bubbles. Create turrets and other decorations from fondant and place them on the cake.
-
Step 6:
Use food coloring to paint details on the fondant and arrange sugar flowers around the cake for a whimsical finish.
