Maple Spice Holiday Cake

Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups All-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons Baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup Granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 3 large Eggs
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 1/4 cup additional maple syrup for frosting
Instructions

Step 1:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, spices, and salt.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, mix in the maple syrup.

Alternately add the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

In a bowl, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and additional maple syrup until smooth.

Once the cakes are completely cool, frost the top of one layer, place the second layer on top, and frost the top and sides of the cake.
