Maple Walnut Retirement Celebration Cake

Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups All-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons Baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 cups Granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 4 large Eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup walnuts, chopped
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup toasted walnuts, for garnish
- 1/4 cup additional maple syrup, for drizzling
Instructions

Step 1:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the maple syrup, eggs, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chopped walnuts.

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
